Recently we having been working with ecologists on the creation of a water vole habitat scheme on a site that was being developed for commercial use.
Prior to development the site had been surveyed and found to have a water vole colony present. The water voles were captured and were being looked after in a water vole “hotel”. They were due to be reintroduced back on the site so an established environment was required for them.
We provided a suitable habitat by installing established coir rolls along with large and very mature marginal plants creating suitable conditions for them prior to them being released back on the site.
Our long standing relationship with the UK’s Waterways Authorities and our understanding of working in and on live watercourses has enhanced our ability to develop in-house design solutions using “bioengineering techniques” the use of vegetation in soil stability, providing erosion control, biodiversity, and dealing with water quality issues.
Terraqua’s specialist team offers a range of bioengineering design solutions, our pre-planted coir fibre products are held in stock for immediate delivery together with a range of associated geo-technical materials which are included in our designs, these include:-
• Pre-planted Coir fibre rolls
• Pre-planted Coir fibre pallets
• Floating Islands
• Rock rolls
A full turnkey package is available via our group services, from feasibility, design, product specification, material supply and installation.
