Latin Name:  Caltha palustris                      

Common name:   Marsh Marigold

Also known as Kingcups, Caltha palustris can be found alongside streams and in the shallow water around ponds.

They form loose clumps of kidney-shaped leaves, each up to 8-10cm across.

Flowering in late spring and early summer they have large, shiny golden flowers that resemble giant, waxy buttercups.

Attractive to a wide range of pollinators because of its nectar / pollen rich flowers they make a striking plant for the edge of a large garden pond or lake.

Best grown in full sun or dappled shade they are a hardy plant that grows well in clay, moist or boggy soil.
