Coir Rolls
We grow coir rolls under natural conditions in our nurseries
We supply top quality pre-planted and well established coir fibre rolls and use only native wetland plants. Standard plant mixes are available from stock all year round and special contract mixes can be grown to order. Un-planted product is also available.
With the increasing need for more natural green bioengineering techniques coir rolls are an effective way to provide a sustainable and soft method of erosion control.
Coir rolls provide immediate marginal vegetation for use where land meets water – river banks, streams, channels and lake edges.
We supply top quality pre-planted and well established coir fibre rolls and use only native wetland plants.
Pre-planted coir rolls are available from stock all year round and special contract mixes can be grown to order. We can also supply unplanted rolls with pre-drilled holes ready for planting up on site once installed.
Well established coir rolls will provide immediate wildlife habitat, improvements to site biodiversity and ecology, encouraging flora and fauna into the area – the plants encourage butterflies and dragonflies and water voles particularly like coir rolls.
Used for many years in various watercourse applications our coir rolls provide a cost-effective alternative to hard revetments and have become a proven bioengineering technique. They have been installed in major environmental and restoration projects, throughout the UK.
We plant the coir rolls up with 6 plants per linear metre and grow them on in our nursery for a minimum of 12 weeks during the growing season (March to September) allowing the root structure to become well established.
As part of the Land & Water Group we have extensive knowledge and experience having installed 1000’s of metres of coir rolls within erosion control systems and are always happy to provide advice if needed.
